It’s been a long time coming (ten years according to her new label Sony), but finally fans of one of Australia’s greatest ever vocal talents, Kate Ceberano, have brand new original music to call their own.
‘Magnet’ is the singer’s brand new single – a track Kate describes as “a very beautiful and delicate song”.
“It’s not surprising because the co-writer of the song is an artist named Yuna,” she says in a statement. “There’s something very special and captivating about the song, and I feel we created a really magical moment with this piece.”
The single is lifted from Kate’s forthcoming album ‘Kensal Road’, named after the studio in London where the project was recorded. It’s said to take on influences of Hawaiian folk music, Linda Ronstadt and Fleetwood Mac, while infusing the chart-bound sounds of the likes of Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons.
“t’s like the stars have aligned and I’ve let go of the expectation of who other people think I should be, and the result is now clear and simple, and resonates with who I really am at my core. It all now feels incredibly authentic,” Kate said.
And while there’s no mention yet of a release date for ‘Kensal Road’, fans can get their hands on the new single from next Friday, June 14.
